The Community Women's Orchestra invites you to join them at a fun and elegant afternoon of chamber music, Nine Vines wine, hors d'oeuvres, complimentary CD Baby download cards, and more! (Further details below).

Sunday, January 23, 2011 - 2:30 pm at the historic Bellevue Club, 525 Bellevue Avenue, Oakland, overlooking Lake Merritt.

$25 in advance ($30 at the door) - children under 12 admitted free.

FEATURES:

- Chamber music performed by the Community Women's Orchestra and special guests Yuchi Chou, Adrienne Krug, and Stephanie Lynne Smith;

- Spectacular, historic venue with stunning views of Oakland's Lake Merritt;

- Free parking on-site;

- Gourmet hors d'oeuvres and Nine Vines wine will be served.

- Silent and Live Auctions led by Professional Auctioneer Kathy Kingston, CAI, BAS, Kingston Auction Company (pictured).

[OPTIONAL: You are invited to join conductor Dr. Kathleen McGuire and professional auctioneer Kathy Kingston, immediately following the Chamber Music Soiree, and enjoy a sumptuous a la carte dinner (ordering from the menu) prepared by chef Scott Cardel in the magnificent Main Dining Hall of The Bellevue Club. Members of CWO will continue to serenade you with chamber music during dinner. To RSVP, you will receive a separate dinner Evite after you purchase your Soiree tickets. Cost for the dinner is $15 - $25 per person plus tax and tip, which you will pay at dinner.]

CONDUCTOR FOR A DAY
CWO is providing a rare opportunity for the highest bidder (male or female) to conduct the Community Women's Orchestra in a piece in concert, including a private conducting lesson with Dr. Kathleen McGuire, a souvenir baton, a photo with the orchestra, and a video recording of your performance as a memento. The piece to be conducted is negotiable, depending on the program and the abilities of the winner.


WHY SUPPORT CWO?
CWO is proud to promote orchestral music by women composers in a fun and welcoming environment, and is one of only a handful of women-only orchestras in the world. Concert ticket sales account for only 25% of the Community Women's Orchestra's annual expenses. Your support helps to ensure the continued success of the orchestra's many important projects, such as:

- New CD: Women's Work And Play featuring music by four women composers;

- New entry-level ensemble: Strings Attached;

- Purchasing instruments (e.g. tuba, percussion);

- Commissioning new music by women composers;

- Touring  e.g. Denver Performing Arts Complex, July, 2012;

- Assistant Conductor intern program;

- Professional instrument coaches.
